The Black River Fire Department, Inc. has a proud history of service dating back to its origins as “The Black River Fire Company No. 1,” officially organized on September 4, 1890. On January 3, 1891, the department was incorporated under the same name. Over the years, it evolved into what is now known as the Black River Fire Department, Inc., continuing its legacy of dedication and community service.
Located in the Village of Black River, New York, the department operates as an all-volunteer organization, committed to protecting lives and property. Each year, the Black River Fire Department responds to an average of 100 to 130 emergency calls, demonstrating the unwavering commitment of its members.
The department provides essential fire protection services to the Village of Black River and parts of the Town of LeRay. In addition to its primary responsibilities, the Black River Fire Department plays a vital role in the region by offering mutual aid to neighboring fire departments, fostering collaboration, and enhancing safety across the area.
